Privacy Policy
This page explains how CRACKEDCAT handles information through the CRACKEDCAT website and its game-controller features. It describes what can be confirmed from the current website code. It does not claim that the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies in every circumstance.
Information used to run the game
When you join or play a room, the website processes:
- the display name you enter;
- a four-character room code and a randomly generated numeric player ID;
- your selected character and colour;
- game activity, including category and difficulty choices, buzzes, answers and whether an answer was marked correct; and
- timestamps used to identify active and disconnected players.
This information is used to connect your browser to the correct room, identify participants, synchronise the game with Unity and other players, choose a temporary host, and operate game rounds. Display names and relevant game activity may be visible to other people in the same room.
Browser storage
The site does not set cookies in the current code. It uses your browser’s local storage to remember your display name, generated player ID, chosen character and chosen colour. These values remain on that browser until you clear its site data. Session storage temporarily saves the animated background state for the current browser session.
This storage is used for game operation and continuity. The current website has no advertising, behavioural analytics, tracking pixels or marketing trackers, so it does not show a tracking-consent banner.
Services that receive data
Game and presence data is sent to Supabase, which provides the database and real-time connection used by the game. The Supabase JavaScript library is loaded from esm.sh, a third-party content delivery service. Requests to the website, Supabase and esm.sh may include standard technical information such as an IP address, browser type, device information and request time because that information is required to deliver internet services.
Netlify hosts the website. Netlify, Supabase and esm.sh may process standard technical information needed to deliver their services. Their exact service locations and retention periods for technical logs or backups are not specified in this project.
The menu links to Instagram, Discord, YouTube and Steam. Those services receive information only if you choose to follow a link, and their own privacy terms then apply. The current site does not embed their content.
How long information is kept
Browser local-storage values remain until you clear the site’s data. Session-storage values normally end with the browser session.
Gameplay-related personal data is retained for the duration of the active game session and is intended to be removed after that game has ended. Some technical logs or backups may be retained separately by third-party service providers such as Netlify or Supabase. The exact retention periods for those provider records cannot be determined from this website project.
Your choices and requests
You may use a nickname rather than your real name. Avoid entering sensitive or private information in your display name or answers. You can remove locally stored information through your browser’s controls for clearing site data.
To ask what information is held about you, request access or correction, raise a privacy concern, or request deletion where available, contact crackedcat.contact@gmail.com. Include the approximate date, room code and player name if you can do so safely; the randomly generated player ID stored in your browser may also help identify a record.
